Indonesia Stock Exchange Identifies 51 Stocks with Elevated Shareholding Concentration
Tempatdonasi.com – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has officially unveiled a comprehensive roster comprising 51 equities that satisfy the stringent requirements for high shareholding concentration. These particular securities, characterized by substantial ownership concentration among limited entities, will face automatic exclusion from prominent benchmark indices such as the LQ45, IDX30, and IDX80 portfolios.
During a press briefing held in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Jeffrey Hendrik, who serves as the President Director of IDX, provided clarification regarding this significant update. He confirmed that thirty-seven additional securities have now qualified under the elevated concentration threshold, pushing the cumulative total to fifty-one stocks.
“We will soon announce that 37 new stocks have entered the high shareholding concentration criteria. This brings the total number of stocks categorized as high shareholding concentration to 51,” Hendrik stated during the announcement.
Understanding the Price Impact Ratio Framework
The expansion of the HSC list stems from the implementation of an innovative measurement tool known as the Price Impact Ratio. This metric specifically targets companies demonstrating market capitalization exceeding ten trillion rupiah, enabling more precise identification of concentration risks within the broader market.
According to Hendrik’s explanation, the Price Impact Ratio measures how stock prices respond to trading velocity. Velocity itself derives from calculating the average transaction volume against the total pool of publicly available shares, commonly referred to as free float. When trading activity remains relatively subdued yet price movements prove considerable, the resulting ratio indicates elevated concentration levels.
“Jeffrey stated that the Price Impact Ratio calculates the change in the stock price in relation to its velocity, where the velocity is calculated from the average transaction volume to the total number of publicly available shares (free float). This means that stocks with low transaction volume will result in low velocity, and with low velocity but significant price changes, a high Price Impact Ratio will be generated.”

Ongoing Monitoring and Market Implications
These fifty-one securities represent the cumulative outcome of incorporating thirty-seven newly identified HSC stocks alongside fourteen previously cataloged equities. The regulatory framework ensures periodic reassessment aligned with the IDX’s quarterly evaluation schedule for main index constituents.
“For these stocks, we will conduct screening to assess the potential existence of high shareholding concentration. Other trigger factors related to monitoring activities will continue to be carried out,” Hendrik emphasized regarding future oversight mechanisms.
High shareholding concentration fundamentally describes scenarios where predominant ownership rests with limited individuals, specialized groups, or their affiliated entities. Consequently, the genuinely tradable portion available to retail and institutional investors—the free float—becomes considerably restricted or thin. This structural characteristic warrants continuous vigilance to maintain market transparency and investor confidence across Indonesian capital markets.
