Netflix Launches Innovative 'Klip' Feature to Enhance Mobile Entertainment Experience

Netflix Introduces New Clips Feature for Mobile - TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – During the APAC Product Innovation Showcase, Netflix unveiled a series of updates designed to elevate its mobile experience, content collections, and gaming services. The company’s Chief Product & Technology Officer, Elizabeth Stone, highlighted these changes as part of a broader initiative to redefine how audiences engage with entertainment. Her remarks emphasized a shift toward more immersive, personalized, and interactive content consumption, which she believes will shape the future of the industry.

Evolution of Entertainment Consumption

Stone outlined three major trends she identifies as pivotal to the entertainment landscape: immersion, personalization, and interactivity. Speaking at the virtual showcase on June 10, 2026, she noted that these shifts are not just fleeting changes but fundamental redefinitions of audience engagement. "The way people experience entertainment is evolving, and these transformations will determine its direction in the coming years," she stated. She further explained that adapting to member preferences allows the platform to introduce new formats and empower creators with tools to innovate storytelling.

"We aim to be a must-have destination for both locally and globally relevant entertainment," Stone added.

The 'Klip' Feature: A Mobile-Centric Innovation

A standout update is the vertical video feature dubbed "Klip," which is tailored for mobile users seeking quick, accessible content. This tool is intended to simplify the process of discovering and watching shows during brief, everyday moments. Stone described it as a solution for users who want seamless navigation, making it easier to search for titles and access content without the hassle of lengthy menus.

With "Klip," users can browse short clips, add titles to their watchlist, share them with friends, or transition directly to the full show page. The recommendations within the "Klip" feed are customized based on individual viewing habits and interactions, ensuring that each user receives content aligned with their interests. The feature is currently being rolled out to members in South Korea and Japan, with plans to expand to more Asia Pacific countries, including Indonesia, by next July.

Expanding 'Klip' Collections for Diverse Content

Netflix also plans to introduce thematic "Klip" collections in the future, enabling users to explore content through mood-based or genre-specific categories. These collections will feature snippets from reality shows, behind-the-scenes footage, and podcast excerpts, providing a more dynamic and varied browsing experience. By organizing content in this way, the platform aims to cater to a wider audience, from casual viewers to dedicated fans.

Gaming Services: A Strategic Growth Area

Complementing its mobile updates, Netflix is also investing in its gaming service as part of its broader strategy to integrate interactive experiences into its entertainment offerings. Lisa Burgess, General Manager of Netflix’s Games Studio, shared insights on the growing importance of gaming. "Games have become a key medium for entertainment, allowing people to connect with stories in new and engaging ways," she said.

"Today, over 3 billion people worldwide play games, underscoring their role in modern entertainment," Burgess added.

Four Game Categories to Cater to All Audiences

Netflix has organized its gaming library into four primary categories to ensure a diverse range of options for members. Mainstream games offer familiar, straightforward experiences, while Narrative Games focus on immersive storytelling. Party and Puzzle games emphasize social interaction and problem-solving, and Kids Games provide a collection of child-friendly titles. This categorization aims to make the platform more user-friendly, enabling members to find games that suit their tastes and preferences.

Netflix Playground: A Dedicated Space for Children

Within the Kids Games category, Netflix introduced a new platform called Netflix Playground. This space is designed specifically for younger audiences, featuring a variety of games and interactive experiences that blend fun with educational value. The service is free for all members, with no ads or in-app purchases, ensuring an uninterrupted experience for children and their families.

Starting June 20, the film *KPop Demon Hunters* will be available on Netflix Playground through six new mini-games, including *Honmoon Beats* and *DJ Mixer*. These games will let children engage with the movie’s soundtrack, experimenting with rhythm and sound effects to create a playful, immersive connection to the content. Burgess highlighted the importance of these additions, stating, "Our goal is to make the Netflix
