Google Begins Testing ‘Gmail Live’ for Voice Email Search

Tempatdonasi.com – TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Tech company Google has started testing the "Gmail Live" feature on Android and iOS after its initial introduction at Google I/O 2026 last month. This feature allows users to search for email in their inbox using voice commands and will be available for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra customers this summer.According to a report by 9to5Google on June 29, Gmail Live is an enhancement of Gemini Live optimized for email search. Google states that the feature is designed to help users find information conversationally when 'Users don't have time to sift through a stack of emails.'In addition to voice commands, Gmail has also introduced the Ask Gmail search column, allowing users to search for emails using natural language and obtain AI-based summaries (AI Overviews). When the feature is activated, the Live icon will appear in the Gmail search column alongside the Gemini sidebar button.

Upon tapping, Gmail Live will open in full-screen view and is still in Beta status. Google also provides several examples of commands that users can use, such as 'What are my upcoming travel dates?' and 'What are the updates on my recent order?'While speaking, voice commands will be automatically transcribed with a blue light effect surrounding the screen edges. Gmail Live will then process the request before providing the answer read aloud and displayed on the screen.

Users can also view the original email that serves as the source of information.Google also provides controls to mute the microphone or close Gmail Live so that users can return to their inbox. The company also revealed that similar capabilities will be available in Docs through Docs Live and in the Keep app, allowing users to create content on the go.The launch of Gmail Live marks the expansion of Gemini integration into various Google services. After the testing phase is completed, the feature is scheduled to be available gradually for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra customers this summer.Read: Google Parent Alphabet Plans $80 Billion Stock Sale as AI Spending SurgesClick here to get the latest news updates from Tempo on Google News
