National Police Leadership Changes Take Effect in Jakarta

Tempatdonasi.com – Indonesia’s newly appointed National Police Chief, General Suyudi Ario Seto, formally installed 27 senior officers and regional police chiefs during an evening ceremony at National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

The event was held at the Rupattama Building at 7 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The appointments covered senior positions at headquarters, leadership roles within the Criminal Investigation Agency, and a number of provincial police commands.

“A total of 27 officials were inaugurated, comprising several key National Police officials and a number of Regional Police Chiefs,” said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, head of the Public Information Bureau at the National Police Public Relations Division.

Trunoyudo did not provide a detailed breakdown of the officials sworn in during the ceremony. The appointments form part of a wider rotation involving 88 National Police personnel under Telegram Letter No. ST/2205/X/KEP./2026, issued on October 2, 2026.

Senior Headquarters Posts Included in the Rotation

The reshuffle placed Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri as head of the General Supervision Inspectorate, known as Itwasum. Inspector General Dedy Kusuma Bakti was assigned to lead the Intelligence and Security Agency, or Baintelkam, while Inspector General Hery Herjawan became head of the Security Maintenance Agency, Baharkam.

Other headquarters-level appointments include Inspector General Rudi Darmoko as head of the Education and Training Institute, or Lemdiklat. Brigadier General Agus Dwi Hermawan was named the police chief’s assistant for logistics, and Brigadier General Deni Dharmapala took the position of assistant for human resources.

Inspector General Mahmud Nazly Harahap was appointed head of the Professional and Security Division, widely known as Propam. Roberto G. M. Pasaribu was assigned to lead the Information and Communication Technology Division.

The leadership changes also include Brigadier General Tubagus Ami Prindani as head of Detachment 88, the National Police counterterrorism unit. Inspector General Ahrie Sonta was named head of the Legal Division, while Inspector General Arie Ardian Rishadi became head of the National Police Corruption Eradication Corps.

Senior Commissioner Didik Hariyanto was appointed coordinator of the leadership’s personal staff, and Inspector General Andik Setiyono became the police chief’s principal assistant for general planning and budgeting.

Changes at the Criminal Investigation Agency

Several important roles within the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, or Bareskrim, were also included in the latest appointments. Inspector General Asep Safrudin was named head of Bareskrim, with Brigadier General Putu Putera Sadana appointed as deputy head.

Brigadier General Suhermanto took over as director of cyber crimes at Bareskrim. Brigadier General Kristian Parluhutan Siagian was installed as director of narcotics crimes. These offices handle investigations in areas that range from digital offenses and online criminal activity to drug-related cases, making their leadership central to national law-enforcement operations.

The appointments bring a new command structure to several units responsible for investigation, internal oversight, intelligence, training, technology, logistics, personnel, legal affairs, counterterrorism, and corruption enforcement.

Nineteen Regional Police Chiefs Reassigned

The personnel rotation also affected 19 regional police chiefs, known as Kapolda, across Indonesia. Inspector General Dadang Hartanto was appointed Jakarta Metro Police Chief, while Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan was assigned as Maluku Police Chief.

Broad Transition Across National and Provincial Commands

The scale of the reassignment highlights a broad transition across both central and regional police structures. The changes reach from Jakarta, Indonesia’s largest urban policing area, to provinces across Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and the Riau Islands.

With 88 personnel included in the wider rotation and 27 officials formally inaugurated at the headquarters ceremony, the changes establish new leadership across multiple operational and administrative functions of the National Police. The newly assigned officials will oversee institutions and regional commands that carry out day-to-day policing, criminal investigations, public security duties, and internal organizational management.
